Collection: Mixed Media

My mixed media works arise from my wanting to work sustainably and use my broken ceramics in new work.

“Look Up” is my newest series of 6 mixed media works exploring healing, fragility and transformation through the use of reclaimed ceramic forms, layered surfaces and expansive skies. Created in response to experiences of emotional vulnerability and recovery, the works reflect on how brokenness can be reassembled into something hopeful and sustaining.

Three of the pieces incorporate fragments from broken ceramic torsos, originally part of earlier sculptural works. Rather than discarding these damaged forms, they have been reworked into the compositions as symbolic acts of repair and renewal. The fractured body becomes a metaphor for lived experience — carrying traces of grief, resilience and survival.

The remaining three works contain ceramic hearts originally made during the Covid pandemic, a period marked by isolation, uncertainty and collective emotional strain. Embedded within the layered surfaces, these hearts act as intimate symbols of endurance, care and human connection during a time of fragility.
