Collection: Mixed Media

My mixed media works arise from my wanting to work sustainably and use my broken ceramics with my painting and drawing.

“Look Up” is my newest series of 2 mixed media triptych's exploring skies, angels with reference from the bible "Look up your redemption draws near".

Created in response to my fascination with the sky, which I have been photographing for years before making these art works. I love the different colours we can see in the sky not just all the blue hues but a vast array of oranges, reds and pinks from the wonderful sunsets and sunrises. Then there are the clouds some looking like billowing smoke some whispy lines. We have amazing skies and I have always wanted to paint them.

Another inspiration for making these artworks was angels in the bible angels are described as fiery beings with six wings—two covering their faces, two covering their feet, and two used for flying (Isaiah 6:2) named "Seraphim", and "Cherubim" Described by Ezekiel with four faces (a human, a lion, an ox, and an eagle), four wings, and feet like a calf gleaming like burnished bronze.

The 2 pieces all have ceramic elements in to portray the angels wings; some from broken vessels and some from hearts made previously for Covid deaths.
