“Look Up Triptych1” – 110x110 cm x 3 Original Mixed Media Wall Art
Oil, Acrylic & Copper and gold Leaf and Ceramic, on Canvas
This triptych was made after years of photographing skies at different times of day, from a blazing sunny bright blue to the moody dark blue hues before a storm. I love skies and clouds and had always wanted to paint them so I fulfilled a lifelong ambition here painting these expansive skies.
Along with the skies I am fascinated by angels especially angelic wings, having read about them in the bible and heard numerous stories of visions. I wanted to include these images in my art. Just before making these pieces I had an exhibition of my ceramic torso pieces which were damaged in transit. When I received them back I decided to use the broken torso's in this triptych and my flower drawing and signature can be seen fragmented on the wings. This beautifully portrays the broken to restoration and healing in his wings.
The title of the triptych came from a verse in the bible that as impressed upon me while making these pieces; "So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!” Luke 21:28
